The Schiff Shakedown - Stop Wishing and Start Working!

I had a friend the other day tell me he wished his lawn looked as nice as mine.

I just said thanks and the conversation carried on.

But then I started thinking about that comment...

2 things came to mind

  1. With that kind of language, it's never gonna happen. You're never going to get where you want to be talking negatively as if it's a done thing and believing that you can't have what you want.
  2. If you would just start taking steps towards your goals, you'd be there before you know it!

It takes me about 10-15 minutes of work each day to water my landscaping and keep the yard looking nice.

But people think that it's some daunting task!

If they would just do what I do and water the bushes while sipping their morning coffee and taking in the sunshine, they'd have a nice lawn too...

The same applies to any goal or vision you have for your life!

We build up in our minds how hard it is going to be to get in shape, to be a great spouse, to build our faith.

But in reality, if we just spent 30 minutes a day working on these things, give it 6 months, we would be a completely new person!

So here's my challenge to you...

Change your beliefs so that you start speaking your goals and dreams into existence.

If you don't believe you can accomplish something or view it as some impossible wish that would be nice to have, you'll never have it.

And then, once you do that, get to work!

It doesn't have to be some extravagant plan that takes up hours and hours of each day, just start taking steps in the right direction towards your goal.

Then expand your time horizon out far enough and you WILL get there.

It's not a matter of if, just when.

Remember, we work for what we pray for...

Thanks for reading and God bless.

Into The Arena With Mike Schiff Recently I was feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious about a situation in my personal life. I kept thinking about how bad the situation was. Paralyzed by my fear and how big I had made it in my head... Then I realized something I wasn't looking at the facts. I was letting my subjective beliefs about the situation make it worse than it actually was, or needed to be. Was it less than ideal? Sure (depending on your ideal) Shifting my perspective from what I...

Into The Arena With Mike Schiff Yesterday, I wrote a thread on X (still weird to call it X instead of Twitter) about building discipline to master your own life Check it out here And while I do think the ultimate goal is to build discipline and become a disciplined man/woman There's also a need for willpower What the hell is the difference? Willpower is your ability to resist short term temptations with your long term goals in mind. Being disciplined means creating structure and routine to...
